About the survey
Creative Workplaces Survey
This important national survey will help us understand the working experiences of people in Australia’s creative industries.
It focuses on key workplace issues including:
- pay and working conditions
- safety at work
- bullying, discrimination and harassment.
What we learn will help us to determine future policies, support programs, advocacy efforts and training opportunities aimed at improving standards and safety in creative workplaces.
We invite you to take part if you:
- are 18 years or older
- are an Australian resident for tax purposes
- work — paid or unpaid, creative, technical or support — in the Australian creative industries.
Is this you? — Creative industries and creative industry workers
If you think you are a creative industry worker, then you are. If you’re not sure, then you probably also are.
This survey is for every type of worker in the creative industries, from artists to technical, production and crew to administrative support. It's for people in all roles and career stages, whether full-time, casual, freelance or volunteer.
If you think you work in a creative industry, you probably do.
We take a really broad definition of creative industry. We include everything from visual arts to music, theatre to museums, digital games to comedy, literature to circus to screen, and anything in between.

The survey takes around 40 minutes. It will ask about your work experiences in the creative industries over the past 5 years.

- Take a break and return later — You can complete the survey in one sitting, or pause and return later using the link provided. Your progress will be saved automatically.

Voluntary participation and withdrawal
- Taking part in the survey is completely voluntary.
- You can decline to answer any question or exit the survey at any time.
- If you submit the survey and later change your mind, you can request your responses be deleted before they are de-identified. To do this email creativeworkplacessurvey@roymorgan.com by 28 February 2026.
- Choosing not to participate, or withdrawing, will not affect your relationship with Creative Australia or any other organisation involved.
- You will be asked to give your consent to participate when you submit the survey.
Privacy and data use
- If you’re eligible to participate, we’ll ask for your email so we can send you the full survey. This also lets you save your progress and return later.
- Your survey responses are only linked to your email during the data collection phase. Once the survey closes, all identifying details will be permanently removed.
- The survey itself does not collect names or identifying information.
- All data is stored on Australian servers and accessed only by authorised Roy Morgan researchers. De-identified data will be kept for at least 5 years, in line with national ethical standards.
- Findings will be published in aggregated form only. Results will be shared through reports, events, and available for download via our website creativeworkplaces.gov.au.
