The Creative Workplaces Survey is coming soon.

It will help us understand the working experiences of people in Australia’s creative industries.

The survey will ask about a range of topics central to fair, safe and respectful creative workplaces:

  • pay and working conditions
  • health and safety, and
  • experiences of bullying, discrimination and harassment

What we learn will help us to determine future policies, support programs, advocacy efforts and training opportunities aimed at improving standards and safety in creative workplaces.

Who can take part?

We invite you to take part if you:

  • are 18 years or older
  • are an Australian resident for tax purposes
  • work — paid or unpaid, creative, technical or support — in the Australian creative industries.

This includes all workers in the creative industries: employees, contractors, freelancers, volunteers and independent workers across all creative disciplines, from performing and visual arts to design, film, media, museums, publishing and music and more.

Learn more about who we are for.

How long will it take?

The survey will take around 40 minutes to complete.

You can take breaks and complete the survey in shorter sessions. You’ll be able to save your progress and come back later if you need to.

Can I remain anonymous?

Yes. All responses to the Creative Workplaces Survey are anonymous and confidential.

No identifying information will be shared with the Creative Workplaces team or any other third parties. The survey has received formal ethics approval and meets strict privacy standards.

All results will be combined and reported in aggregate, so individual responses cannot be identified.

Once the survey opens, we’ll have more information on privacy and data collection. We encourage you to read it before doing the survey and to contact the research team if you have any questions.

How long will the survey be open for?

The survey will be open for about 5 weeks

The survey will ask about some difficult topics. You don’t need to complete it in one sitting. You can take a break if you need to. Starting earlier can give you the time you need to pause and come back.

Will you share the findings?

Yes. We will publish a public report on our website later in 2026, sharing key findings, analysis and insights from the survey.

To find out when the report is released:

Do we really need another survey?

We know surveys can feel repetitive. But until now, there hasn’t been comprehensive national data on working experiences across Australia’s creative industries.

Your participation will help build the evidence needed to support meaningful change — including better policies, training and safer workplaces.

Can I help promote the survey?

We’d love your help. Organisations, networks and individuals can all play a role in spreading the word about the survey.

We’ll have ready-to-use posters, digital banners and social tiles that you can share with your networks. These will be available on our website soon . Subscribe to updates to to find out when they become available.

Sharing the survey widely will help ensure the findings reflect the diversity of experiences across the creative industries.

We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways, and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions. We are privileged to gather on this Country and to share knowledge, culture and art, now and with future generations.
